At Nuvelo, we are committed to serving the communities in which we live and work, both locally and beyond. As part of our corporate outreach efforts, our employees support others in numerous ways through programs such as the Family Giving Tree, American Heart Association Walk and the Second Harvest Food Bank. In addition, a number of employees participate in "Bike To Work" day as a way to reduce traffic congestion and reduce vehicle emissions that have a negative impact on the lives of those in our community and the world.
Most recently, Nuvelo employees participated in the Back to School Drive and the Family Giving Tree. Nuvelo partners with The Family Giving Tree and R.A.F.T. (Resource Area for Teachers) organization to help thousands of students and children from low-income families throughout the Bay Area. The "Back to School Drive" is all about providing kids with the tools they need to succeed in school and it felt like a perfect fit for Nuvelo. We exceeded our goal by donating over 30 new backpacks overstuffed with school supplies. The "Family Giving Tree" is a program that provides families with toys and living essentials (clothes, toiletries, etc.) during the holiday season. Our employees, through their continued generosity assisted over 60 individuals in need over the holiday season last year. Nuvelo is proud to have participated in these programs and we look forward to next year!
Nuvelo is also proud to host an annual "Health and Benefit Week" which brings many health-related vendors and our health plan representatives together to encourage our employees to make healthier choices in food and exercise. Some of the activities include hosting an on-site blood drive, on-site chair massage, lunch and learn seminars and many other activities. Nuvelo employees are also offered an annual flu shot at no charge to the employee.
